Trailblazer Community Conference Leader Spotlight – Cyril Louis

At Dreamforce 19, Trailblazer Community team kicked off Brunch Dreamin’ – an event where all the amazing Dreamin event leaders were invited under one roof for celebrating their success, networking, and fun. Being the founder of one of such events – India Dreamin’ -the largest community dreamin event in the world,  I recognize and applaud the efforts placed by the Trailblazers who are converting dreams into realities and hence this inspired me to come up with the idea of sharing amazing stories of these trailblazers. I hope this blog series will help Salesforce Ohana know more about these events, their organizers, and the communities that they drive and support. Here is the blog interview of our sixth spotlight – Cyril Louis. He is Head of Salesforce Practice at Globaz.ch, A Salesforce MVP & Lightning Champion, Geneva Switzerland User Group Leader, Skiforce Team, and Snowboard addict.

Q. What event do you help run and what is your role in it?

I joined the team that organizes Skiforce, a three-day Salesforce community event that takes place in the European mountains. Skiforce is what we like to brand as “The Highest European Salesforce Community Conference”! We like this baseline because we are definitely not the biggest event, but we hope this baseline transcript that we’re a fun one.

Skiforce occurs every year in the European mountains during a week-end with obviously Ski & Salesforce conferences. We are also very proud to see how our Skiforce community is growing year after year, to reach more than 100 attendees coming from 15+ different countries!

Unfortunately this year, the 4th edition has been canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. #StayHome #StaySafe

This dreamin event is run by different European user group leaders, including Borislav Borisov (Sofia, BG Developers Group), Markus Moser (Vienna, AT Developers Group), Daniel Stange (Frankfurt, DE Administrators Group), Fedja Fidahic (Zurich, CH B2C Marketers Group), Stefano Crepaz (Geneva, CH B2C Marketers Group) and me (Geneva, CH Administrators Group).

Since the core team is spread over several countries, we don’t have a strictly limited role, but we are more like a swiss-knife in charge of many different tasks to be relayed in our local country.

Q. What inspired you to start this event?

I started my Salesforce journey in Paris, France, so I had my network over there. Then I moved to Geneva, Switzerland, and I wanted to connect with my local peers. So I joined the existing Geneva Developers Group and also created the Geneva Administrators Group to present more generic content, share knowledge, and allow Salesforce enthusiasts to connect.

After having been involved in volunteering activities in events such as Trailhead basecamps and community booths at Dreamforce and Salesforce World Tours or in Community Dreamin events to onboard, help, educate, and leverage new Trailblazers, I wanted to help my local Ohana with a local Dreamin event. And I had in mind an event with Ski experience as we have mountains all around Switzerland! At the exact same period, the Skiforce team offered me to join them as a co-organizer . It was the perfect opportunity to launch a Dreamin event for a bigger community: European Salesforce and Ski enthusiasts.

Q. What have you learned from being a part of  Skiforce?

Organizing an IT conference is a lot of work… But it’s not impossible! First, we are a team, and we try to be as organized as possible to split and anticipate actions between the team. Then, we also have unexpected resources and support from all the other Dreamin events organizers to share their tips and useful advice. Lastly, the community itself is a great source of faith, energy, and information, and in our case, raised up as volunteers or speakers to support us in this initiative.

Q. Top 5 reasons why one should attend a Dreamin event?

1- Get inspired and learn tips and tricks from experts with -how would I say that- more honest and concrete knowledge sharing experiences instead of pure marketing sales pitches (no offense to world tour)

2- Meet in real life people you know online

3- Network with your local community

4- Have fun and give back to the community

5- Feel a kind of Dreamforce experience in your local Ohana

Q. What has been your most memorable Dreamin experience to date?

I would say the French Touch Dreamin 2016 edition for several reasons. First and foremost, it was my very first Dreamin experience! Second, it was an event in my original hometown Paris. And third, it was also my first experience as a Speaker!

Q. What type of event organizer are you?

1. The Natural – Calm under pressure

2. The Strategist – With an eye for details

3. The Wizard – Pulls off the impossible

4. The Trailblazer – Sets the trend

Based on feedback from the Skiforce co-organizer team, I would say I’m a Natural-Strategist.

I think the team is a combination of the different organizer types with a common passion for Salesforce to make this Skiforce initiative a success! And a recurring success only possible thanks to our awesome Skiforce community, attendees, speakers, volunteers, and sponsors!

Q. Any details you want to share specifically about your event?

Even if we are Skiforce, please note that we are not sectair so on top of #TeamSki, we, of course, have #TeamSnowboard, and #TeamSpa .
